Working Student: Marketing & Communications for Video Games

Start: March - April 2023 | Location: Berlin (Hybrid WFH & Office) | Parttime

Hi there! We are Paintbucket Games, an award-winning game developer from Berlin, founded by two AAA veterans: Jörg Friedrich and Sebastian St. Schulz. We develop games that matter, with sociopolitically relevant themes, delivering meaningful messages through strong narratives. Our debut game, Through the Darkest of Times, is a critically acclaimed antifascist strategy game, focused on civil resistance during the Nazi era. The game secured us the German Developer Award (Deutscher Entwicklerpreis) and the German Video Game Award (Deutscher Computerspielpreis). We are currently producing a sequel, which revolves around legal reconnaissance of NS crimes in post-war Germany.

This is where you come in. We are looking for a person with highly communicative talent to help us promote our game(s). We offer you the opportunity to become creative yourself, to develop and implement your own strategies and to gain insights into the games industry.
Applicants of currently underrepresented groups encouraged. You will be loved and respected no matter who you are.

Your profile:

  • you are currently enrolled as a student in marketing, communications or similar
  • you are interested in video games and familiar with common gaming-platforms (Steam, Twitch, Discord, etc.)
  • you are creative, self-driven, proactive, reliable, and solution-oriented
  • you speak fluent English, speaking German is a big plus
  • you have a respectful tone when dealing with political and historical topics

Your role:

  • you support us in promoting our games in press and gaming platforms
  • you plan and create social media content
  • you deal with press and community requests
  • you reach out to Streamers and Influencers

What we offer you:

  • A positive, social, and relaxed work environment - we value trust, open communication, and autonomy of our team members
  • A hybrid WFH & office plan with flexible work hours - you can adjust your working hours to your university schedule
  • A No-Crunch-Policy: All overtime hours are compensated with free time
  • A very open-minded, diverse, positive, and helpful team
  • A beautiful workspace in the heart of Berlin as part of the indie game developers collective and co-working space “Saftladen” near Alexanderplatz which offers a lot of exchange with other developers and building a network in the games industry
